“The architecture of techno” is how Arctronic defines itself—a techno label led by Arcfilter, one of our favorite producers in recent months. For its first release of the year, the Spanish label introduces Zeitkell, a DJ and producer with releases on Over Records and Dissident Music. Shades is a five-track EP that showcases a mature and refined approach, built around a distorted yet hypnotic sound, clearly aimed at the dancefloor.
On Shades, distortion is not used as excess but as a structural principle: every element is placed with surgical precision, allowing tension to build without sacrificing clarity or direction. The EP unfolds as an exercise in dynamic control, where repetition and rhythmic weight act as the core axes of a sober, solid, and deeply functional sonic narrative.
Resilience is the ability to adapt in the face of a disruptive force or adverse situation; it is also the capacity of a material, mechanism, or system to return to its original state once the disturbance has ceased. In the track bearing the same name, this concept is translated into a constant, drilling, and highly resistant sound, almost impervious to external irritation or noise. The structure remains firm, absorbing pressure without collapsing, ultimately consolidating into a dense and persistent sonic block, designed to hold the dancefloor with authority.
