Aerodrömme (also written Aerodroemme when diacritics are unavailable) is a duo project based in Toronto, Canada, formed in 2008 by Boris Kurtzman (aka DJ Shankar) and Steve Chan (aka Chan Solo). Initially recognized as one of the most promising acts within the progressive techno circuit, the project has gradually evolved, shifting toward a more hypnotic and deep techno sound, clearly reflected in their most recent releases.
With an impressive and consistent discography, Aerodrömme maintains regular performances across Ontario and Quebec, while their international presence has taken them to Australia, Israel, Panama, Mexico, Colombia, Spain, Georgia, and the United States. Their live sets are known for being unpredictable and exploratory, driven by a constant search for new elements to improvise and experiment with on stage.
For one of their latest releases, the Canadian duo appears on one of our favorite labels, to which we return after some time: Dosis Records, the Chilean imprint run by producer Sam Wilson. Faultlines is a three-track EP that marks Aerodrömme’s debut on the label. It is a focused and cohesive release that naturally aligns with the current aesthetic and sonic direction of Dosis.
Way To Venus evokes a journey toward the planet named after the Roman goddess of love—Aphrodite in Ancient Greece—though here the reference is stripped of any softness. The track unfolds in a constantly emergent manner, hosting cold, diamond-sharp sonic blades that cut across the entire structure, generating tension, expectation, and an inevitable sense of latency.
A sonic delta impacts the planetary surface, causing rhythm and intensity to become frenetic, amid pressing tempos and inescapable pursuits. In the end, everything dissolves into silence and into a time that does not return, because it is past and future at once.
