The trajectory of Arcfilter —formerly known as Alvaro H— can be summarized in two words: consistency and passion. Since the beginning, his work has remained committed to the essence and roots of pure techno, while never abandoning the strength and groove that keep the dancefloor alive. He is also the founder of Arctronic Records, a label that serves as a platform for exploring the connection between techno and architecture — his other profession.
Now the Spanish producer delivers a new release on one of our favorite imprints: Signal Rec.
This marks another strong debut for the label, presenting the work of this emerging talent. In “Sistema Diédrico”, Arcfilter builds a sonic landscape of precise textures and tense structures, supported by dark rhythms that at times feel suffocating and at others intensely dynamic. The track opens with a solid groove, reinforced by reverberated synth strikes and distorted drums that quickly raise the tension.
After a few measures, the energy expands and chaos begins to unfold through a remarkably inventive sonic sculpture. Arcfilter guides the listener through a deeply underground journey: relentless, direct, and hypnotically rhythmic techno. Looping grooves push the listening experience deeper and deeper, moving through different layers of perception and the many stages of the mind.
A fractal is a geometric object whose fragmented or irregular structure repeats itself across different scales. In mathematics and physics it describes self-similar forms, where the whole reflects the same structure as its parts. In the track that carries this title, Arcfilter translates that principle into sound. The structure appears abrasive and imposing, quickly stabilizing itself within a controlled frenzy.
Ultimately, the piece becomes a unity built from difference: dissonant elements that gradually achieve an unexpected coherence. It is abrasive techno born from a refined and sophisticated approach to sound design. Its structures combine hardness and flexibility, generating open yet stable sonic forms.
The result is a compelling sonic statement from an artist who has managed to navigate the social media era —where content often becomes subordinate to algorithms— without losing his underground identity. A firm artistic stance reflected both in his music and his conceptual vision. And for that reason, Arcfilter remains one of our current favorites.
