This winter marks a special moment: ACCENTAPE returns to present the tenth cassette installment from the French label Accent Records. This milestone is accompanied by a proposal specially created for the occasion. Instead of following predictable paths, the label reaffirms its original spirit: sharing music without stylistic, genre, or signature boundaries, pushing exploration to the forefront.

Club Furies Premiere: Sub Accent – Spiral IV [Accent Records]

For this chapter, Sub Accent, the project’s founder and curator, invites a long-time close collaborator: Accou, an essential figure within the Belgian experimental underground scene. His contribution on Side A unfolds a meticulous and enveloping soundscape, where ambient, sleep music, breakbeat, experimental explorations, tribal pulses, and neoclassical nods intertwine. The result features fluid synthesizers, chiseled rhythms, and soft layered melodies that together construct four tracks of urban, future-oriented sensibility.

On Side B, Sub Accent develops an EP that could function as the soundtrack to a yet-to-be-filmed science fiction movie. Its contrasts—intense lights and deep shadows—recall the early works of seminal projects like FUSE or Plastikman, inhabiting a futuristic world with dystopian overtones. With a minimalist yet always rhythmic approach, this part of the release traverses shifting atmospheres: from mental and spatial techno to energetic breakbeats, ambient passages, and a metallic, precise sound design.

For our premiere of this release, we feature «Saturn Rings.» The track evokes the planet’s complex ring system: solid and perfect structures seen from a distance, yet formed by vast moving fragments (ice, dust, and rock) orbiting in sync. This blend of sonic order and chaos combines rigorous minimalism, futuristic tension, and precise rhythms, encapsulating the mechanical elegance of Sub Accent’s sound.
