TECHKƎN is a techno «storyteller» hailing from Tirana, now Durrës. Albania. His love for techno music started at a very early age, and after years of pure passion, he decided to «marry» the genre, perfecting his technical skills on turntables and CDJs. He conceives electronic music as the only way to meditate and satisfy his soul, moving fluently between dub, deep, minimal, and pure techno, always maintaining a hard groove and a distinctive melancholic touch. He is an active part of the local underground scene, and his goal is to take his music to every continent.
Previously, he was part of our Cintas Furiosas, our mix series. And now, for one of his most recent releases he presents one track for the Albanian label Teknik Tirana, a collective and On/Off streaming platform based in Tirana. And he presents it in a massive collection of 20 powerful tracks, ranging from low to high BPMs.
TECHKƎN presents «Mentality,» a word that carries a very broad and extensive meaning. Since modernity, society has been largely understood through the mind and its power to change the existing state of affairs. While we may not know the precise rationale behind the track’s name, one thing is clear in the sound.
The track unleashes brutal, expansive, immense hypnotism, stretching almost ad infinitum. The sonic structure is compact yet generously spaced, allowing the sound layers to bounce off one another very harmoniously. It appears that this sonic pinball simultaneously constructs clean and perfectly executed rhythmic labyrinths. «Mentality» is a powerful dive into mental techno, demonstrating TECHKƎN’s ability to create a sustained and detailed trance.
