Rostøm arrives with all his attitude and simplicity to deliver an exceptional work on our favorite Prophet Recordings. The EP, titled «Shimmers,» is composed of five original tracks that dazzle due to the organic confluence between the German producer’s sound and the Italian label’s exquisite curation.
The Dortmund-based producer, a resident at Tresor Berlin, now rests on Prophet’s shoulders to remind us that techno sound can also shimmer and transcend mere darkness.
The track we highlight, «Scientific Boundaries,» is likely loaded with controversy from its title alone. After all, science sometimes seems well-defined, but often less so, both due to its own results and the context from which it is observed. In any case, the eponymous sound is continuous and rhythmically well-defined, transporting us to alien subterranean caves.
Amidst the crossings of these visual correlates, the sound is always clean, rattling, only to then turn into a velvety hypnotic labyrinth that places us in ethereal tundras. The track is an exercise in mental and deep techno that uses sonic precision to evoke vast, unknown landscapes, demonstrating Rostøm’s ability to fuse club toughness with rich and detailed ambiance.
