We begin the year by returning to Vanishing Point, the first release of the year from our beloved Subsist Records. Conceived as a collaborative effort between Sebastián Peralta and Obmana, the project sets out to make sense of the world while imagining possible futures. The album opens with immersive sci-fi atmospheres that slowly guide the listener into its own frame of reference, unfolding like a carefully paced journey rather than a fixed destination.
As the record progresses, psychedelic textures start to surface, building tension bar by bar. This tension grows steadily until it reaches a peak where sharp resonances take over the mix and define the sonic landscape. There is no release here—no moment of relief. Instead, distorted sounds linger until the very last beat, leaving behind a feeling of suspension and unresolved momentum.
A few days ago, we premiered one of the tracks by Sebastián Peralta, the Miami-based producer. Now we return to Vanishing Point with a premiere from Obmana, the mysterious project of the Croatian artist. The conceptual starting point is bird migration: the seasonal movement of millions of birds, usually from north to south, in search of food, milder climates, and safer nesting grounds—guided by the sun, the stars, magnetic fields, and invisible landmarks during their epic journeys.
Bird Migration is the electronic sonification of this phenomenon. Its opening echoes emerge powerfully from silence, from vastness, and from distant places. Intense rhythms rise almost to a standstill, and then the migration begins. Sonic birds—made possible by electronic machines—start to sing, while cables, knobs, and circuits take over and shape the movement.
What follows is delirium, interference, and controlled chaos. Perhaps a malfunction in the radar guiding these creatures. Perhaps the sudden acceleration of their flight. Either way, the track transitions clearly into new territories—more rugged, more mountainous, less mysterious but just as impactful. A sonic journey that values motion over certainty, and experience over arrival.
