CF Premiere: Internal Observer – Dilemma [Systolic]

From Poland comes Internal Observer, a producer operating in that fertile and demanding territory where experimental music, IDM, and deep hypnotic techno converge —genres that in his hands are not separate categories but layers of the same expanding system. As owner of the labels Unknown Timeline Records, Delayed Arrivals Records, and ZATHRA Records, his relationship with the industry goes far beyond releasing music: he builds the spaces where that music can exist on its own terms. That dual condition of artist and curator is evident in how he approaches each release —with the awareness of someone who knows exactly what it means to put something into the world.

For this work, Internal Observer arrives at Systolic, the deep and hypnotic techno, Ambient, and Groovy label founded and led by Adrian Gambin since 2016, based in Malta. A label small in geography but solid in identity, one that has built its catalog with a consistency felt from the first track to the last. That Internal Observer chooses Systolic for this release says something about the conceptual affinity between the two —there is a shared way of understanding sound that connects them without need for explanation.

The release is titled Dedra —a five-track original EP that functions, from first listen, as something beyond a collection of tracks. It is a study in tension, rhythm, and internal fracture, unfolding as a controlled descent into the mechanical subconscious. Across three central movements —«Diminished», «Dual», and «Dilemma»— Internal Observer builds a sonic landscape that pulses with a contained aggressiveness and an introspective weight that never yields. There is no easy catharsis here. No clean resolutions. Something more honest and uncomfortable: sustained tension as artistic form.

«Dilemma» is the EP’s point of maximum density —the moment where everything that has been accumulating reaches its most conflicted state. Patterns destabilize, unresolved energy persists in every phrase like something that can neither be named nor fully released, and the track suspends itself in that impossible threshold between liberation and containment. But what makes this closing piece so particular is its temperature: within it there is a calm that pulses with veiled nerves, like deep waters and ice warming placidly from below —an apparent stillness concealing a constant internal movement. In those conditions, the deepest parts of the psyche become strangely familiar with a ease that unsettles: the track doesn’t take you somewhere new, it takes you somewhere you already knew and had forgotten.

Dedra EP is not just a collection of tracks: it is a psychological loop, a rhythmic inquiry into contrast, erosion, and the fragile symmetry of opposing forces. The kind of work that doesn’t end when the last track fades —that keeps resonating, reorganizing, questioning. One of those listens that shifts your state without asking permission.
