Apigenin is the Berlin-based project formed by Solenoid, a three-decade veteran of the techno scene, and his nephew mmoonn, a musician and visual artist. Their collaboration finds a compelling balance between experience and contemporary sensibility, united by a shared fascination with the hypnotic potential of groove. Two generations converge around a common understanding of techno as a language of repetition, immersion, and perceptual transformation.

Their second EP for Black Hole Transmissions delves deeper into that territory. Across four compositions, the duo develops a sound rooted in deep textures, functional repetition, and rhythmic structures that favour gradual absorption over immediate impact. Each track explores a different variation of the same principle, the ability of groove to engage both the body and the mind at once.

Future Proof expands upon the atmosphere established by the opening track through enveloping synthesizers and deeply grounded rhythmic patterns. Additional percussive elements introduce movement and spatial depth, while melodic layers evolve patiently toward increasingly immersive states. Every transformation feels purposeful, contributing to a seamless and carefully controlled flow.

From the outset, the level of immersion is striking. The sound gradually surrounds the listener, creating a trance-like state that unfolds to its fullest potential throughout the track. The progression remains steady and deliberate, shaping intricate sonic labyrinths that seem to contain both the mystery and the solution within themselves. Time feels folded and stretched, as if different moments of the composition were coexisting inside the same expanding continuum.

With this second release, Apigenin further consolidates a vision centred on the most immersive aspects of contemporary techno. Rather than relying on immediate formulas, the duo builds its language through precision, patience, and gradual evolution. In Future Proof, that approach reaches a particularly evocative form. The future suggested by its title appears neither as promise nor destination, but as an open territory where every structure, rhythm, and perception is continuously tested.
