CF Signals: Pleasure Model – Assisted Co-Piloting [Dalmata Daniel]

Pleasure Model returns to Dalmata Daniel with eight new transmissions. They come from a universe that never fully existed, yet they carry a strange familiarity. As if they had always been there, waiting to be tuned in. Antoni Maiovvi builds this journey between digital memory, technological nostalgia, and imagined futures. A triangle where time folds back on itself.

The album emerges from a single instrument: Ableton’s Operator synthesizer. Its FM textures, brittle drums, electronic details. Limitation becomes a creative starting point here. A single machine functions as a complete ecosystem, generating a retrofuturist landscape that holds together on its own. No external layers, no embellishments. Everything rises from that core of modulated frequency.

The influences are as precise as they are scattered: forgotten FMV games, nineties sample libraries, the nocturnal scenes of X-Files, worn-out Detroit rave flyers. Materials discarded by time, but which Maiovvi retrieves and reassembles. The result is melancholic, playful, slightly strange. A collection of fragments recovered from a lost multimedia archive. Each track feels like an archaeological find from a digital era that never quite solidified.

The artwork comes from Studio Jetski, and the limited cassette edition reinforces that vocation of physical object. The digital and the tangible coexist without friction. Pleasure Model’s visual and sonic mythology expands around synthetic nostalgia and the dreams of the machine age.

Assisted Co-Piloting‘ condenses the album’s spirit. Its sound is continuous, placid, fluid in a way that demands no effort. The subtle machines that inhabit it are well-handled: they never impose, never spin out of control. At their peak, they model utopian visual correlates, close to the aesthetic of Tron: Legacy, but without the cinematic grandiosity. A universe of light lines and reflective surfaces, well-grounded in the concepts that run through the album. Utopia here is not a destination. It is a frequency one can inhabit for a few minutes.

Antoni Maiovvi belongs to that lineage of artists who don’t need to explain their world. They build it, inhabit it, and let the listener traverse it. Faced with his music, the only task left is to listen. To let oneself be carried by those transmissions arriving from a place that never existed, yet sounds as if it had been waiting.
