Club Furies Mix Series: Cintas Furiosas Present Monotone

The deconstruction of the contemporary live act format finds its most subversive fuel within geographic and stylistic hybridization. Monotone—the joint project of Francesco Presotto and Annie Hall, operating between Venice and La Coruña—develops a distinct signature at the exact intersection of drum & bass, jungle, and IDM. Their output pairs high-precision rhythmic architecture with a deeply atmospheric scope, where tension, distortion, and spatial design balance technical rigor with emotional intensity.

Supported since their debut EP, Call Your Friends, by seminal figures such as dBridge, Grant Marshall, Amon Tobin, Laurent Garnier, Modeselektor, Kode9, Venetian Snares, and Objekt, the duo continues refining a high-tension identity now solidifying within the Cintas Furiosas catalog.

Our mix series is called Cintas Furiosas — Furious Tapes. The concept draws inspiration from the Baseball Furies, the cult gang from The Warriors, and from Imperator Furiosa, the central figure of Mad Max: Fury Road and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. Both references converge around the same idea: intensity, displacement, and energy held in permanent tension. Each edition functions as a tape projecting a different kind of “furious sound” depending on the invited artist, expanding the concept toward new textures, velocities, and emotional states. This time, that fury takes on a particularly fluid and magnetic form through Monotne.

The peak point of physical and narrative immersion in this entry manifests through its subtle, masterfully delivered beginnings, inserting us into cracks of a decoupled reality to forge parallel worlds via the surgical use of glitch and spatial sparks. Once reality is suspended by Monotone‘s rhythmic genius, the producers gracefully introduce new noise and interference into the sound’s drive, leading into pure delirium while evoking sleepless nocturnal cities and deeply rooted modern societal stories.

The composition’s architecture delivers a rhythmic stabilization refreshed by subtle yet potent electricity. Through percussive breaks that unexpectedly plunge us into the depths of the night and the dancefloor, the piece locks us into an infinite loop crossing streets, cities, countries, planets, and galaxies in a mix as precise as it is flawless. With this contribution to Cintas Furiosas, the project signs a sharp editorial stance against the European electronic scene: proving that cult sound reaches its apex when hardware complexity pays homage to cinematic immersion.

Towards the denouement, the structure rejects any complacent resolution or functional summary. The analog drive cuts off abruptly mid-sonic effervescence, leaving the echo of glitch and interference suspended in mid-air like an unfinished remnant in the dark.
