Ipologica is an electronic music and artist collective founded in Rome in 2006. Ipologica takes its name from a discovery, a word that gives rise to the encounter between the two most important realms of human nature: logic and sensitive impulse. The choice of the name (from the Greek ὑπό = lesser, λογική = logic) is an invitation to think less and do more. It does not mean a lack of reasoning or sense. It is an expression of the motivation to go beyond genres and categories with passion and curiosity.
In this magical combination, Ipologica seeks balance in the conflict between the real and the surreal, technology and the human, individualism and collectivity, silence and noise. Ipologica resonates in the fractures created by the contrast between human nature and the entire universe. It searches for a hybrid language that connects what, at first glance, seems different. Ipologica is exploration, connection, fusion of languages and disciplines. The team members are Fabio Sestili, Giulio Maresca, and Valentina Pentesilea.
«Time Is A Dimension» is an album that explores the perception of time as a living and constantly changing substance. Each track is an attempt to reconstruct a moment that was truly lived or imagined while daydreaming. The pieces move between slow rhythmic crescendos and ambient spaces. They alternate density and suspension to investigate how time can seem solid and motionless in one moment, and then transparent and permeable the next. Each track represents a different state of this dimension: a place where memory and perception curve, overlap, and merge.
The recordings arise from spontaneous gestures and the use of analog and digital synthesizers, samples, and field recordings collected over time. These elements are then reassembled as fragments of a memory. The result is a sonic journey that moves between introspection and open space. There, rhythm becomes a trace of thought, and sound takes the form of an autonomous temporal dimension.
Reversed Directions is the track embedded at the end of the release. Its sound matches its title perfectly. This time, there is a more than manifest latency. A movement of deep, cold atmospheric calm runs transversally through it. As a whole, this forms a duality that is initially conflicting. In its unfolding, however, it becomes quite beautiful and very delicate, as subtle as it is fresh.
