Snuffo (Benedikt Schmidt), who usually appears masked, has forged a singular trajectory in electronic music over the years. His work is driven by a constant search for new forms of expression, guided by artistic curiosity rather than trends or fleeting recognition.
Born in 1981, Snuffo’s musical path began in the mid-1990s. Today, this German artist — based in Spain — works across multiple roles: he is one half of the acid house duo Snuff Crew (alongside Stefan Gubatz, also known as Dirtbox Jams), founder of the labels Snuff Trax and In The Dark Again, and the mind behind experimental sound projects, video installations and free improvisation performances under the name Cellarkalt. Under his real name, Benedikt Schmidt also writes prose and poetry.
Snuffo’s artistic evolution remains in constant motion, exploring new sonic territories without ever losing the uncompromising spirit that has defined his work since the beginning.
“How can we resist the speed, the ephemeral nature and the growing superficiality of our time? How can we create a space for stillness amid the constant noise of a restless society, driven by algorithms and the pressure to perform? Through the poetic gaze.” That is the starting point of his new release, from which we present the premiere of For a Better Tomorrow.
Stillness as a poetic form of resistance is the concept that articulates the track. Its title carries one time implicit and another explicit: the present and the past, respectively. Through rough and rugged sounds, the present is illustrated, while the future — which can also be projected onto the past — arrives through very delicate and magical transversal halos. This sonic duality gives consistency, both sonically and conceptually, to a genuine work of sonic art.
Within Club Furies’ interest in electronic music as a cultural language, For a Better Tomorrow stands as a quiet but firm gesture: an invitation to slow down without abandoning intensity.
