Club Furies Review | The rise of a new label: Mexxita by Controlla presents Tussy by Vleks and Hija del Diablx

The first release of Mexxita, the new music label of Controlla, in charge of the hard techno sound of the electronic spectrum, is coming. It’s called Tussy, and it’s an extended play of an original track that is accompanied by three remixes. Vleks and Hija Del Diablx are in charge of opening this new sound universe. An old and dear acquaintance, the Mexican rock ‘n roll techno producer from Tamaulipas, Mexico, this time teams up with the Mexican producer who defines her project as “zapateo oscuro”, also from Tamaulipas, and manager of the Diafragma community.

Mexxita defines herself as “tecno without h”, recently established, her slogan is “Pure love from Mexico”. The name Tussy may come from the combination of the so-called pink cocaine, known as tusi, and the kitty word. Maybe the name probably has nothing to do with either of this two-word combination.

Accompanied by Mexican artists DJ Popper, Leimantour (Los Angeles, California / Monterrey, Nuevo Leon), and Final Beat (Tamaulipas, Mexico), a new sound emerges, which is also accompanied by spectacular visual art―just look at the art design of this first cover.

Immersed in smoky dance floors, densified by the weight of the night and the atmosphere, the sound of Tussy‘s original mix is a balm that plunges us into the darkness, the night, and the dance. Between suggestive but subtle lyrics that are reticent but at the same time explicit and brutal sounds, the night starts to belong to Mexxita and Tussy.

Rougher and wilder; immersed in the hopelessness of life and the dancer, who finds himself trapped at a point of no return: between returning from the dance floor or being engulfed by it. The decision is at the same time easy and difficult; a dilemma that is diluted in sonorous paradoxes. The party promises hedonism; but that same hedonism promises perdition; that is the point that always scares us―right? And the vowels “despierta, despierta”, trapped in spaces without oxygen and places with no return are a sample of that dilemma/duality.

That’s DJ Popper remix, who has channeled the original sound to its terroirs, those that seem to be a kind of Mordor dance floor―among a heavy atmosphere and wickedness strolling without rancor or salvation. Which in the end leaves us in nothingness―will we make the leap?

Final Beat imbues the original mix with trance sounds that deconstruct it in its entirety. The original structure is barely noticeable, enclosed in the sonic power of the artist from Tamaulipas, who has left her mark, making her presence felt from the very beginning. Delicate sound labyrinths surround us, while the vowels emerge timidly. When they do so, they are quickly stilled by the thick beats of Final Beat, leaving us blinded by their energy, which extends ad infinitum.

In the end, after the frenzy and madness follow the calm, the latent side of the trance, which allows the dance that had gotten out of control again to move towards peaceful and relaxed deltas. Remember that, being latent, madness/calm is always played out in a manifest/latent way, so everything must always be expected. It’s time for everything to explode.

Angelino-Regiomontano artist Leimantour continues to adhere to the Mexxita sound. Powerful, fast, agile, delirious. Amidst almost uncontrollable densities, the vocals emerge and make themselves felt. Quickly extinguished, powerful and thick acid halos shake and break the floor. The audience slows down, as does the sound, which has lost the keys to sanity, and the knobs of their machines have taken over: it’s the sound, the artist, and the audience, all fused together in a hard techno madness that is hard to sustain for much longer.

If you have any energy left after this, it’s time to make the day into night again, and give Tussy a replay. With this release Mexxita opens the catalogue with an impressive art of work, full of hard techno, trance, acid, and very demanding and suggestive variations, which will demonstrate all the power of Mexican electronica―the one who already which is already making more than just noise over the world. So stay tuned.
