Club Furies

Prodigal Son celebrates its 20th release by welcoming two friends from Finland, Empath – an old acquaintance of Club Furies – and Kitkatone – who joins us in our words. Emerging from their local scene as creators of industrial but epic bangers, these Finnish talents have quite an arsenal to deploy. Finland’s Kitkatone has been working with techno for years, combining hard-hitting beats with playful melodies, spiced with a touch of Detroit. He is known for his live performances of pure, energetic hardware, as well as his fearless mixes of underground dance music, from Berghain to secret Finnish basements.

Now, for the London label, they present the Primate Funk EP as a set, as a work composed of four original tracks – Byronic, Chanson De Acid, Primate Funk, and The Pillar – which form a stunning whole, full of nuances and shimmering atmospheres that ignite the dancefloor. Chanson De Acid is perhaps the track that mediates the intense delirium to which the rhythm reaches in two of the songs with the medium but the accelerated rhythm of the other two songs. Powerful, fierce, exciting, and intense rhythm, which still remains below that of two of the tracks.

It functions as a rotor and pivot that serves as a mediator of the flow of energy, which it distributes to the track that precedes it, which it manages to store within itself, and which it then distributes to the one that follows it. Between sound mountain ranges that reach exciting peaks and valleys of nostalgia and silence, the barely sparkling vocals reactivate the exaltation of the heart and the body. With an unstoppable rhythm, always fresh and booming, the sound is spotted as well polished, mediated by a sound design that always wants to keep the listener attentive, but, above all, dancing.

In short, Chanson De Acid is a sonic pivot that detonates the sound and at the same time regulates it, to distribute it among the tracks. But this happens on an individual level as well as on a collective level. That is to say that each track can be listened to in this way, with a different role, and also the whole Primate Funk can be listened to in this way: regulation, distribution, and detonation of rhythm and sound. An excellent work by our dear Empath in collaboration with Kitkatone.
