Club Furies

Markus Schlösser -in German- or Markus Schloesser -in English- is a German producer from Cologne, who presents his recent work for Diffuse Reality Records as «techno from Cologne». It is entitled Frontiers I and is made up of eleven original tracks, with titles in both German and English, which are as suggestive as they are strange. The case of ‘Rain is supposed to …(make a pleasant sound, but I’m not feeling it yet)’ is extraordinary, as the sound is responsible for giving it full meaning, as well as the experience of ego experiencing the German producer’s sound.

Grenze (Davos) is at the heart of Frontiers I, and means edge. Maybe Davos refers to the commune and city in Switzerland – we don’t know. Between the edge and the borders, at least in semantics, a liminal zone is created, that which is neither one thing nor the other, nor the paradox of form, whose observation as the form is neither on the side of form nor on the side of non-form. In this liminality and paradox begins the sound of this track, which in its development generates ways of disintegrating this primordial quality. Towards the ethereal of the subtle, the peaceful, the electrically relaxing.

From that place, an electric placidity emerges from the German producer’s machines, whose cables, knobs, and buttons bring forth a beautiful sound. Gradually, it is inserted into the ethereal and idyllic, whose visual landscapes settle on green plains and frozen mountains, to reach the silence of the sound. Sound interferences slowly and peacefully reactivate the sound again. The synthesis occurs: inexhaustible electricity and placidity in crescendo merge into a single skein to leave the listener/dancer with a full heart and soul, and a calm mind. This is an incredible work as a whole, which is a must-listen for sure. A great signing from the Barcelona label.
