Club Furies Premiere: Dast (Italy) – Land Of Fires [Illegal Alien Records]

What can we say about such an extensive compilation? To say that it is the sounds of Illegal Alien Records is true, but that description would be an understatement. To try to synthesize it into one sound is to erase the complexity and artistry of each track, which is vast and exceptional. We are talking about the eleventh installment of the Mexican label’s Deported series, whose title germinates in powerful meanings, which have always been rooted in the memory and facts of the world.

More than twenty-five tracks with an impressive range of rhythms and atmospheres, divided into two parts. With tracks by Ana Rs, Audio Units, Dast, Developer, DJ Dextro, Fvndo, Industrialyzer, Marco Ramos, Jheal Bashta, Jonas Kopp, KRISSFA, Maasym and Maccari for the first part, and by Mr. Shady, Perfo, Rey Brennan, Fvndo, Industrialyzer, Marco Ramos, Jheal Bashta, Jonas Kopp, KRISSFA, Maasym and Maccari for the second part. Shady, Perfo, Rey Brennan, Seddig, Tauceti, The Miller, The Sixth Sense, Unbekannt, Victor Santana, Vinicius Honorio, Ricardo Garduno, Xris Vavrzhina and Yoikol for the second part, we present Dast‘s Land of Fires track.

Terra dei Fuochi, or Land of Fires, is a way of referring to Giuliano, a town 15 kilometers from Naples in southern Italy. Originally from Naples, this could be the germ of the title of the song that Dast presents for the Deported Series. Known as such because of the amount of toxic waste illegally dumped there from the steel, paint, fertilizer, leather, and plastics industries of northern Italy, including substances as hazardous to health as asbestos, arsenic, lead, and cadmium.

Against this background, whether this is indeed the reason for the name of this track or not, it is a place to start. The sound of the track on its side is shuddering, soft, almost a sonic velvet, pervaded by deep nostalgias and clear, clean atmospheres. With the weight of the past behind it, one that can be painful, and whose effects can be current, the sound design manages to handle it perfectly. Pains that are still there, and don’t have to go away, wrapped in sonic longing; but overlaid with shimmering rhythms that imbue it with hope and memory.

Remember that this is one of the tracks on this massive compilation. Full of meanings, sounds, and updated memories, it should be a must in your library.
