Antariksha is a noun meaning outer space. It is a space-based music label with earthy co-ordinates in Delhi, India. For their recent release, they present an extensive thirteen-track Various Artists compilation with varied sounds and subtle atmospheres as well as fresh and fun.
Traversing acid, psychedelic, and ravey soundscapes. Originally from Kashmir, now based in Goa (India), Zequenx loves to create sounds that encourage us to step out of our minds and into the ether. Deaf Mills is the name of the Indian producer’s contribution to From the River to the Sea. A mill is a device by which, by a certain process, something is broken, crushed, laminated, or squeezed. If a mill is dull it can mean that it is not carrying out the task of crushing that which it has been charged with.
In sound, this translates into smooth and electric sounds, sparkling in well-polished metallics and precise contours. Between labyrinths of past and present, almost impossible utopias and potentialities to be realized, the sound enters a sonorous valley that takes us from the river to the sea. Between nostalgic threads and fresh and joyful rhythms, which reach acid and electro palpitations, emotions overflow us.
The sound mills of this track, not only crush the waves but work them and reconvert them into an impeccable sound design, which enjoys enviable sophistication and unlimited potentialities. The layers of sound that make up this sonic structure are clearly identifiable from one another and at the same time, there is a clean integration, evoking crisp and well-framed ambiances and visual correlates.
