Club Furies

STUPR is a producer and DJ inspired by a wide musical spectrum. His musical journey in production began ten years ago, with the discovery of Techno music in one hand, and Dub in the other. During these years he has never stopped experimenting with different genres and sounds, refusing the restriction of a too-well-defined identity. The four years he spent hosting a radio show pushed him to go further and further in broadening his musical horizons.

Like his DJ sets, his productions can vary between fast or slowed-down tracks, sometimes dubby, sometimes break, sometimes trancy, or even industrial. He already has several releases on labels such as Illegal Alien Records, Blockchain Records, Trau-ma, or 909 Connection, a label he co-founded. Now, in 2024, he will debut on the artistic sound platform Diffuse Reality Records where he will release two works: Flashing Halo and When Falling Stars Stopped Burning – the latter on vinyl -, as well as more releases on his own label, 909 Connection.

Flashing Halo presents six techno tracks, which include introspective rituals and dancefloor-oriented weapons. The first track of this work, as the name suggests, requires us to summon our inner strength, as well as that of STUPR itself. And boy, is it necessary to achieve the flashing halo. A carefully crafted sound design offers harmonic rhythmic layers that model effects that are calm but with latent tension; electric, but with intermittent energy; and unparalleled refreshing.

Blinding lightning bolts, full of electricity and neon, flood the floor, like an overwhelming sonic ocean. Yet the effect is a refreshment to the soul and psyche. Our inner strength has now gone from latent to manifest and is positioned close to us. The ever-tense calm of the sound of this track achieves its purpose. It’s time for Flashing Halo, the next track, the one which will show the core of this work – which, I must say, is one of the best of these weeks; no doubt about it.
