Club Furies

With roots deeply rooted in the rich musical traditions of his homeland, morax emerged from the bustling streets of Yerevan in Armenia with an innate understanding of rhythm, melody and harmony that would come to define his unparalleled artistic vision. Driven by the belief that true musical resonance occurs when the mind and body are out of sync, morax channels this ethos into each composition, forging a deep connection between equipment and sound. Their strong background in technology serves as a catalyst and allows them to overcome the limitations of sound design. Through innovative experimentation and fearless exploration, they weave together intricate layers of sound, seamlessly blending the organic with the synthetic.

Resident at Diaries -a multidisciplinary artist collective founded in January 2021 to foster creative dialogue between the emerging Armenian scene and the global audience-, we got the opportunity to have morax in our mix series, called Cintas Furiosas. Our mix series is called Cintas Furiosas – Furious Tapes, in English. They are inspired by the band from the cult film The Warriors (1979) called Baseball Furies, and the scintillating Imperator Furiosa, the iconic character from the fourth installment of the Mad Max saga, Fury Road (2015). Conceived as tapes that express a “furious sound”, both as a metaphor and as a sonic process, they acquire a special and unique fury with each artist they feature. With morax, the result is just perfect.

With strong, polished, brilliant, and well-defined sounds that in their maximum expression take us to the abyss. Behind which is everything everything at first appears tinged with shadows and density that trigger the tension and expectation. Quickly the veil is drawn and the Club and the portal open to take us to the other reality, the one of electronica and techno. Then everything enters in dense and agile grounds at the same time with changing melodies but that maintain control of the body of the dancers. Once in full control of the track and the dancers, the sound becomes more piercing, accelerating the rhythm a little and turning it on different tracks, but with the same structures.

Entering the veins of the night the rhythm comes out of its density, dragging us to more agile and fresh places, recovering oxygen from what happened in the first part of the night. Don’t worry, it’s only a few minutes. The climax of the night is coming.
