Cristian Scalas is a DJ, sound engineer, mastering engineer, and sound designer. Better known as Kryss Hypnowave, his biggest passion is also his job. He likes to call himself a sound researcher, and his sound is techno. Based in Milan, Italy, he presents the next release from Yantai-based Chinese platform Indefinite Pitch.
It presents Galassia M-101, a collection of three original tracks – Supernova, Collapsar, and Ipernova. Also known as the Pinwheel Galaxy, it is a spiral galaxy 25 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major. A collapsar is a star that has undergone a gravitational collapse, which means the implosion of a stellar body due to the effect of its own gravity to form a black hole.
That is the semantic correlate of the sound we have in front of us in Collapsar, the second track of this work. Finely woven, with climactic sounds that reach such an implosion, it ends up empowering the integrated sonic elements to form the next of the stellar phenomena that this work inspects in sound.
Everything seems to dissolve into black holes after the sonic explosion we have faced. The sound disintegrates, approaching silence, in a subtle and delicate way. Giving way to galactic storms that turn everything into space sand.
