Club Furies

Glasgow-based UK producer Fernie, owner of Space Textures, and curator of the Monument podcast series – the self-styled global community united by the transformative power of music, art, and human connection – presents his work entitled The Jovian System via our favourite platform Indefinite Pitch. Led by Mark Wagner, based in Yantai, China, it is one of the leading platforms in what is known as Deep Techno, as well as variations and combinations that focus on the sounds of nature, and also in outer space environments.

The Jovian System is made up of five original tracks. Its name may allude to the sci-fi role-playing video game with turn-based combat and base-building elements set near Jupiter. Or to the collection of Jupiter’s moons that form a satellite system called the Jovian system. If we pay attention to the names of the tracks that make up this work, we will have the answer.

Amalthea is one of Jupiter’s smallest moons, named after the nymph who fed the infant Jupiter with goats’ milk. Amalthea is the third closest satellite to the planet. It has two mountains, Mons Lyctas and Mons Ida. Its surface is dark and reddish, apparently due to sulphur dust from Io’s volcanoes. There are areas of green on Amalthea‘s major slopes, although the nature of this colour is still unknown.

The sound of this track starts in the dark areas of the moon, searching for the dust that gives them that appearance with an attitude worthy of it. Enmeshed in valleys of infinity, with enviable sound design and lunar atmospheres, both bright and clean, the sound reaches the mountains of its moon. From there, the rhythm rests placidly, which observes attentively. And from those heights, it blurs into the infinity of the rest of the Jovian system and sound, whose combinations become incomparable.
