Club Furies

One of the labels that we have recently discovered, and that we have really liked what we have heard from them, is Ketapasando‘s friends, based in Madrid, Spain. With a simple name, but no less suggestive, it is ipso facto striking. For their latest release, they present Useful Hoax, the alias of Alejandro Moreno, a producer from Madrid who has been releasing music since 2008 under different pseudonyms – TheRoofman, Nohuman, and Æme. He has released music on labels and netlabels such as Marbre Negre, Sois los Cerdos, Infinite Pandemic Recordings, Eclecting Reactions, Atroccius Symphonies, and Sevenmoons. His work is characterized by an experimental approach within IDM, with broken beats and frenetic bass sequences that reflect his influences from the Acid, Glitch, and Click’N’Cut sound.

Useful Hoax explores the sonority of styles that embrace IDM, seeking to generate a futuristic atmosphere between broken and frenetic rhythms mixed with acid bass lines. 4lg0Rythm, his first EP under this pseudonym, Useful Hoax presents his vision of a dehumanized society, in which technological advances influence a retreat in self-identity. «Intelligence now belongs to machines and emotion is artificial. All loaded with noise and moved by algorithms at the same pace, the energy in lithium batteries.»

«In the not-too-distant future, the city of Neonville stood like a titan of metal and glass, ruled by an intricate algorithm that managed every aspect of daily life. This algorithm, known as Hoax, ensured that everything ran smoothly: from traffic to home climate control, everything was under its control. However, deep within the system, something began to go wrong.»

«One night, interference began to appear on people’s screens. At first, they were just fleeting flashes, but soon they turned into chaotic images and encrypted messages that no one could decipher. The only clue to the source of these interferences was a word: ‘L1th1um’. Desperate for answers, Neonville’s engineers frantically investigated.»

«As engineers worked to contain the situation, the city’s screens began to display mesmerizing patterns and vibrant colors. What was initially considered a problem slowly transformed the city into a living art gallery. Hoax, adapting to this new influence, began to integrate the creations of the artistic algorithm, demonstrating that even in calculated precision, there was room for beauty.»

As we can see, the concept behind this EP is very powerful, as expressed by the sound itself. After which we can only express a few words: future reality that becomes present imminently. And the sounds that announce it with reluctance, but with certainty. When the future arrives, it does so with nostalgic overtones, saying goodbye to a present that becomes past.
