When presenting an artist’s work, I always aim to capture their original vision as accurately as possible. For this particular album, the artist’s own description truly felt like the most authentic and complete way to articulate their sonic creation. Rather than rephrasing or interpreting their words, I’ve chosen to present them directly, with full credit. This ensures you get their unique perspective exactly as intended, providing the clearest insight into their work.

The 2019 series dramatizes the harrowing events surrounding the 2014 abduction and murder of Palestinian teenager Mohammed Abu Khdeir in Jerusalem, offering an unflinching exploration of state power, communal trauma, and fractured identities.

Adar’s score avoids conventional narrative cues, instead constructing a sonic architecture of electroacoustic dissonance and textural abstraction. The compositions conjure an imagined ensemble—acoustic instruments processed and mutated into something part-organic, part-synthetic, edged with overtones of drone and analog decay.

The resulting sound captures a persistent sense of unease and interior tension, echoing the bleak interrogation rooms and shadowed urban landscapes that define the series.

Recognized for his distinctive contributions to screen music across fiction and documentary, Adar’s past scores include Beaufort (2007), Shirkers (2018), and Sympathy for the Devil (2023). Alongside his work for film and television, he creates electronic music rooted in a retro-futuristic aesthetic, drawing on the textures of vintage electro and Italo-inflected minimalism.

Our Boys is both a soundtrack and a standalone piece—immersive, unresolved, and emotionally charged. A release for listeners drawn to the intersections of experimental sound design, audiovisual composition, and music that resists easy resolution.
