Cat can do presents his next release on the Diffuse Reality Records, this time presenting emotional/après on vinyl. A collection of six original tracks plus a remix. This time it’s personally interesting for the Canadian-Spanish producer, because this album is another set of tracks he produced by sampling old family videos from the trip they had to France when he was a kid and his parents were still around.
What’s striking is that the emotional track is actually his grandmother talking, and what she was saying in the sampled video was actually something very different. This track is essentially the last part of the emotional remix, which says «cinq boites, cinq euro», i.e. «five boxes, five euros». This phrase was inverted during this extended jam, making the word emotional magically present itself, which was the moment that led to the creation of emotional.
As for the sound, it plays with the artist’s classic Electro single interpretations, this time coupled with Acid, which from the beginning are intense, and which progressively decreases. In this sonic skein that dualises high intensity with its counterpart, the sonic knot tends to be intense, with flashes of tranquillity that let the artist’s childhood memories splash through, with all that whirlwind of memories in between, characteristic of our memory.
