The Brooklyn-based artist TONYY makes his debut on Rhod Records with «Rest Frame,» a collection of five deep and introspective techno tracks. This EP marks the seventh edition of the Spanish label’s Fields series, a platform dedicated to the exploration of cerebral atmospheres. Throughout the EP, TONYY manipulates the perception of time through subtle repetitions, contained tension, and evolving textures that induce a meditative state. «Rest Frame» develops as a slow-motion journey through space and perception: precise, minimalist, and deeply hypnotic.
The track «Piston» takes its name from the mechanical part that moves alternately in a cylinder, and its sound echoes the essence of the EP: precision, minimalism, and hypnotism. The track is built with continuous, firm, and masterfully executed progressions. Rhythmic sphinxes are erected, functioning as unshakeable mediators of the entire sonic structure—just like pistons in an engine. These rhythmic figures maintain control over the atmospheric layers that stretch out in the background.
