A few days ago, we premiered «Run Away,» the second track from the new and audacious work by Italian-Brazilian artist Kassidy, also known as Subzero. This track is part of his new sonic collection, «That Cold Body,» which consists of nine original tracks and one rework.
This time, we present the premiere of the Increased Control Rework of the piece «The Rain.» The original mix of «The Rain» carries a strong mythical component, loaded with mighty pasts and imposing, almost unbreachable sonic walls. It sounds like a rhythmic monolith that evokes a history of power and permanence.
The rework, however, deconstructs that unbreachable sound, as well as the time upon which it is erected. The Increased Control Rework seems to set its gaze firmly on the future. Yet, this projection is not optimistic; it is charged with a fearful expectation, as if anticipating the worst. It is an exercise in controlled tension where rhythmic power is filtered through a dystopian lens, stripping the original’s imposing nature to give it a new, mechanical, and cautionary vulnerability.
