A4, the artistic alias of Asier Morillas, is a DJ and producer from Irún in the Basque Country (Spain). He began his journey in 2014 as a DJ and, in 2018, stepped into production with “Black Machine,” featured on the Tonal 09 compilation. That same year, he released his debut EP, Point Position, through Sub tl, formally launching his recording career. Since then, his artistic evolution has been steady, building a sonic identity grounded in technical and conceptual exploration.
His debut quickly caught the attention of specialized media and respected figures within the electronic scene. From there, his work appeared on influential labels such as Illegal Alien Records, Axis Records, and Semantica Records, among others, strengthening his presence within contemporary techno circuits. Each release has reinforced his commitment to meticulous, deeply atmospheric sound design. His trajectory reflects aesthetic coherence and an ongoing search for new sonic configurations.
A4’s universe is defined by abstract techno with a cosmic atmosphere, shaped through modular synthesizers and analog machines. His approach emphasizes the creation of futuristic soundscapes and complex structures, where each element operates within a broader sonic mechanism. Rather than producing tracks solely for the dance floor, his compositions unfold as immersive experiences that expand perceptions of space and time. Technical detail becomes expressive language.
He now appears on Abstract Mechanisms, a sublabel of Illegal Alien Records, with Extraños En Nuestro Interior, a four-track collection that distills his signature under the label’s curatorial vision.
