CF Signals: Crushted – Solaris [EXP Records]

EXP Records once again opens one of those portals where techno stops functioning merely as club music and becomes perceptual architecture. The new album by Crushted, Levito, unfolds a Sci-Fi narrative shaped by cosmic pulsations, emotional tension, and a constant sensation of drifting between matter and void. The Spanish producer continues refining a language where rhythmic rawness and spatial abstraction do not conflict — they depend on each other.

Across eight tracks, the album evolves like a slow trajectory between separation and reunion, between emotional residue and astral expansion. Solid percussion works as gravitational cores while ethereal synths and hypnotic currents orbit around them, forming an unstable yet deeply immersive sonic system. The dancefloor emerges here as a suspended temporal zone, a place where body and perception gradually dissolve into movement itself.

The closing piece, “Solaris,” stands as one of the most evocative moments of the release. Its title inevitably echoes Stanisław Lem’s philosophical science-fiction masterpiece, where a conscious ocean materializes memory, trauma, and the hidden territories of the human mind. That same logic seems embedded within the track itself: the sound does not simply progress — it remembers, folds back, and transforms, as though every frequency were quietly observing the listener in return.

From the very beginning, the piece moves through a piercing, vibrating, relentlessly hypnotic pulse. The groove rotates like an interstellar engine while layers of varying density form orbital rings that expand and detach in zero gravity. Everything feels suspended inside a colossal cosmic mechanism slowly grinding against itself without ever collapsing. Cold electricity cuts through the upper frequencies while a subterranean pressure keeps the entire structure advancing with surgical precision.

When the track reaches its climax, it does not erupt — it opens. As if the sonic structure had reached the edge of the universe itself and decided to remain there for a few extra seconds, staring directly into the void. From that point onward, “Solaris” enters a more introspective and profound territory where the techno impulse continues beating, now infused with a strange futuristic melancholy. Infinity stops being scenery and becomes a state of mind.
