Contemporary sound design achieves a political and cathartic dimension when it transmutates the geography of trauma into documentary matter. Through field recordings, Horizon Resonances presents Ludy under the wing of Milan-based Italian imprint Nettuno. The release captures the atmosphere of streets marked by social tensions, weaving four stories reflecting the memory and daily friction of Odessa.

Our exclusive Premiere, Strelyali, stands as a blunt testament to this premise. The piece unfolds from an overwhelming depth, ruggedness, and heaviness, where cries and claims of difficult definition emerge to shatter the sonic framework. The project’s brilliance lies within its compositional tension: the contemplative placidity of Ambient collides head-on with the hostility of Drone, reaching a relentless synthesis where sound seeks not evasion, but visceral testimony.

Towards the denouement, the composition avoids any complacent resolution or functional fade. The analog drive cuts off abruptly mid-textural friction, leaving the field recordings and distant cries echoing in mid-air like an unfinished interference in the dark. With Ludy, Horizon Resonances and Nettuno sign a harrowing sonic manifesto: they prove that today’s most relevant experimental music is that which converts urban fractures into an impregnable piece of cult art.
