The third release on the Anodynic Frequencies label comes from a Rome-based DJ and producer whose sound blends deep atmospheres, hypnotic melodies, and contemporary techno influences.
Shawn❅, the moniker of Alessandro Romeo, is an Italian producer, DJ, and composer. His journey into electronic music began at the age of 14, when he also composed his first piano piece. Initially experimenting with production under a different alias, he created tracks bridging ambient and cinematic electronics before discovering techno and stepping into a whole new world.
His sound is defined by dark atmospheres and intense melodic and harmonic arrangements—strongly echoing his musical roots—interwoven with rhythms that sometimes subtly fade, sometimes strike with conviction, but always share a single purpose: to convey raw emotion.
This is Spirit, an EP featuring two original tracks and remixes by Yujinn and Enzo Pietropaolo. The original track «Spiritual» evokes the spirit itself—the psychic, soulful, mental, emotional, inner, ethereal, immaterial, impalpable, and Platonic. Throughout the unfolding soundscape of «Spiritual», this concept morphs into something ethereal and idyllic, driven by a sound design as immaculate as it is flawless.
Moving from the depths to the climax, it places us amid frozen forests and icy tundras, where the cold becomes the absolute sine qua non of existence, and its evolution turns into a perpetual atmosphere.
