We return to our beloved imprint Sengiley Recordings, which now via its physical imprint Sengiley Wax delivers the third volume of its Russian Series: Impulse, the full-length LP by Finetune—the project led by electronic musician and visual artist Mikhail Komisarov (Michael Dop), co-founder of Slowdance Records. Mikhail’s narrative spans a multi-genre palette navigating experimental electronics, ambient, IDM, and house, rooted in live improvisation. It is a sonic architecture crafted to convey complex emotional states through fluid sonic collisions, where the artist sets the direction to let the story evolve naturally.
Under his Finetune moniker, Komisarov explores a palette bridging ambient, avant-garde electronics, jazz nuances, and neoclassical touches. Integrating modular synthesis, acoustic instrumentation, field recordings, and custom effect chains, the artist builds ten experimental compositions defined by hypnotic sequencing, polyrhythmic structures, cinematic textures, and subtle modulations that dissolve time perception.
The visual concept draws from the multidisciplinary neuro-performance Impulse, created at the intersection of art and neurotechnology alongside NeuroLab, digital art studio STAIN, and physical theater company «Dancing in the Dark»—featuring visually impaired performers. During the show, the dancers’ brainwaves were recorded in real-time via a neural interface to generate real-time visual graphics; these electrical impulses of consciousness translated directly into the physical and motion art backing the release.
The kanji 森 translates to the Japanese word mori, meaning forest. Imagine the most breathtaking forest—whether drawn from memory, imagination, or evocative digital landscapes. Pair that visual with «Mori» and dissolve into the seamless dialogue between sound design and space.
