Prophet Recordings is one of our favorite labels in the underground circuit. Faithful to the side of the form that truly produces and reproduces the artistic form of electronic music, the Italian label was created to respond to the need to express music without the filters of the market, in favor of an artistic expression of techno. Its project focuses on research into the electronic-techno sound, with the aim of giving free rein to hypnotic, dub and Detroit sonorities.
For its most recent release, the label presents Clemente Loffredo, an Italian DJ and producer based in Naples, who began his artistic career paying greater attention to techno and electronic music, increasingly attending events of this kind. With time and experience, and thanks also to a large vinyl collection, he began to move into the analog and modular world. He owns Kloster Recordings, founded in May 2018.
The arch as a portal is the concept that articulates the release: a structure that connects two realities. Port_Alba, by Clemente Loffredo, included in his forthcoming album Strati Popolari for the Italian label Prophet Recordings, is an exact sonic translation of the mythical Neapolitan gateway. Framed in the hypnotic, analog-modular techno that characterizes the Naples-based producer, the track evokes the transition between architectural openness and the dense pedestrian alley through a deep, textured sound design.
Just as the historic arch connects urban realities, the track’s dark kicks with dub tinges and enveloping sequences act as a mental portal that transports the listener to the subterranean, bohemian and purely popular vibration of this corner of the city, stripped of commercial filters in favor of pure artistic expression.
Within Club Furies’ interest in underground electronic music as a cultural language, Port_Alba stands as a precise, located gesture: techno that remembers the city it comes from.
