CF Signals: Pumuki – I Love Dance [Behind The Noise]

Pumuki is a Madrid-born artist, DJ, and producer, born in 1982. His musical career began in 1997, starting out mixing techno and continuing with electroclash. Today, his style is indie dance and italo with touches that marked him in the past; hence, his productions span styles such as indie dance, italo, dark wave, and electroclash.

Now, for one of his most recent releases, he presents I Love Dance on the Mexican label Behind The Noise, a track born from the intention of recovering the essence of early-2000s electroclash — an era marked by direct electronic sounds, energetic rhythms and a carefree attitude. For this production, Pumuki opts for a high BPM, a very marked bassline, and the use of the vocoder, bringing that robotic and futuristic character so representative of the genre.

The party as a form of reclaiming is the concept that articulates the release: fun taken seriously as an attitude. The title perfectly reflects the personality of the track: a fun, lively theme without too many complications, created with the intention of making people dance and enjoy the music. With I Love Dance, Pumuki reclaims the most festive and cheeky spirit of electroclash, recovering his 2000s influences and transferring them to a current, direct production designed for the dancefloor.

Within Club Furies’ interest in underground electronic music as a cultural language, I Love Dance stands as a light but deliberate gesture: club music that trusts pleasure over pretension.
