Club Furies

The German producer Tension, based in his hometown Bielefeld, was influenced by his parents’ Soul and dance music tapes from the eighties during his childhood. From this, he imbibed music from an early age. Listening to genres like Hip Hop, Metal, and later Drum & Bass as well as House music, he became enthusiastic about the diversity of electronic music. Those inspirations are defining his musical career, but contributing to his eclecticism in sound.

Accumulating experience in clubs and festivals since 2006, he soon delved into the world of disc jocking and the production of various electronic sounds. This was followed by several releases on labels such as Kaputt Musik and Vector Function. Later, on Basic Channel, Ostgut Ton and Perlon. With those labels in his background, he places his sound between the poles of Dub Techno, Electronica, and Breakbeat, but with a touch of minimalism that he expresses both in his DJs and live sets.

Now, after previous releases on Illegal Alien Records, Conquest and Aspect Ratio, Tension returns to the Mexican label headed by Ricardo Garduno. Like the previous two times, this is a great release. Their third release on the Mexican label is titled Acceleration, an extended play of five original tracks: Acceleration, PVE, PVP, Lobos, and Backwards.

The title of the release, Acceleration, refers to the action of speeding up and increasing speed. In this semantics, Club Furies presents the premiere of Backwards, a word that refers to the return quality of a certain thing.

The sound of our premiere begins at the end of the universe. Stranded in our spaceship, the dancer has to return to familiar places, far from the mystery on which he lands. Backwards then is the spearhead of the return. While the sonorous correlate is striking in its confection.

Sophisticated, fine, delicate, with imperceptible Ambient and Drone flashes; well-polished Techno; and well-positioned universal galactic sounds. In the midst of such sounds, the outward journey that Acceleration began veers towards its return. Reaching the recondite depths of infinity, the return seems insurmountable, but, at the same time, unmissable.
