Gooze Lab introduces Chilean DJ and producer Josefa Leon with Prehispana / Crisol, her debut EP on the label. The two-track release brings together a minimalist aesthetic, carefully designed synthesizers and an enveloping groove, establishing a sound that feels both refined and deeply connected to the dancefloor. Across its two pieces, Leon explores different moments in time while allowing certain elements to remain present beneath the surface.
“Prehispana” and “Crisol” meet somewhere between past and present. The former carries a persistent vocal presence through most of its progression, eventually releasing the tension it has accumulated. Its title points toward an older way of understanding the world and nature, giving the track a conceptual weight that gradually becomes part of its rhythmic language. “Crisol,” meanwhile, brings together influences from different moments, including a piano jam recorded by Leon several years ago. The result is a small dialogue between what has already happened and what continues to take shape.
