Following the premiere Crisol, Chilean DJ and producer Josefa Leon returns to Club Furies with a second signal from her debut release on Gooze Lab. The two-track EP brings together a minimalist approach to production with carefully shaped synths, subtle details and an enveloping groove, establishing a sound that feels equally comfortable in close, intimate spaces and on a late-night dancefloor.
Prehispana opens the release with a persistent vocal presence that stays close to the surface throughout much of the track. Rather than functioning as a conventional centerpiece, the voice becomes part of the track’s architecture, gradually increasing the sense of anticipation until the tension finally breaks open. Its title points toward an older way of understanding the world and nature, giving the track a particular sense of memory and continuity without taking it away from its club-oriented character.
There is something especially interesting in the way Leon balances this idea with the track’s stripped-back construction. The groove remains focused and economical, while the synth work and vocal elements slowly reshape the space around it. Prehispana feels like a piece built around accumulation: small changes, repetition and a controlled release of energy that eventually turns its hypnotic pulse into something more physical.
Together with Crisol, the track forms a concise statement about change and persistence. Where the second piece draws from different moments in Leon’s creative process, including an older piano jam, Prehispana looks further back, connecting the present with an imagined older relationship between sound, nature and experience. Released through Gooze Lab, the EP introduces a producer with a clear sense of restraint and a growing interest in the spaces that can emerge between minimalism, memory and the dancefloor.
