Tlaloc Records continues to expand its catalogue with Changing Form EP, a new collaboration between Butwho and Aronia built around an idea of constant transformation. Across five tracks, the release moves through shifting rhythmic patterns, organic textures and a distinctly physical approach to sound, creating a sense of movement that runs throughout the EP. From Shloud Kisses to Traffick, each track introduces a different shape while remaining connected to the same restless atmosphere.
There is something almost biological about the way the release develops. Organic, Scuttle and Insects suggest different forms of movement, while the production leaves enough space for percussion, textures and more abstract elements to interact within the groove. Rather than relying on dramatic changes, Butwho and Aronia build the EP through subtle variations, allowing details to emerge, mutate and disappear as the tracks progress. The result feels constantly in motion, even when the underlying structures remain firmly locked in place.
Our premiere focuses on “Insects”, the third track on the EP. The track develops a distinctly hypnotic and nervous tension, driven by precise percussion and layers of sound that seem to move continuously around its rhythmic core. Its strength comes from that sense of permanent activity: the groove stays locked while small details surface, shift and dissolve, gradually shaping a darker and slightly unsettling atmosphere. There is a physical quality to the track, but also enough space within its textures to let the mind wander.
With Changing Form, Butwho & Aronia deliver a release that treats rhythm, texture and repetition as elements in a continuous state of transformation. Insects captures that idea particularly well, moving forward with precision while gradually accumulating tension and turning movement itself into a form of narrative.
