Cucurbitacea, the Chilean label based in Matanzas, returns to CF Signals with Sharpley Universe, a four-track release by Venezuelan-born, Chile-based producer Nandz Jr. Following our recent feature on Mxm Fernandez’s Fiesta Retro Future, we continue exploring the label’s catalogue with a new release that reflects an ongoing search for distinctive sounds and textures within electronic music. For Sergio Hernández, aka Nandz Jr, techno and house provide a starting point for an evolving practice focused on developing his own artistic identity while contributing to the visibility of Latin America’s electronic music scene.

CF Signals: Mxm Fernandez – Fiesta Retro Future [Cucurbitacea]

At the heart of Sharpley Universe is a thoughtful approach to progression, texture and rhythm. Across three original tracks and a remix by Joaquinn, the EP presents a space for different elements to interact and gradually take shape. Rather than relying on a single idea, the release allows its layers and dynamics to develop, creating a sound world that feels open to movement and change.

For this CF Signals premiere, we turn our attention to Derrota Mundial, the opening track of the EP. Its progression unfolds through multiple layers, bringing together delicate details and a subtle sense of movement. As the rhythms begin to intertwine, these elements form a texture that feels agile, fresh and powerful without losing its finesse. There is a particular pleasure in the way the track allows its components to coexist, building a cohesive whole from small shifts in rhythm and atmosphere.

Sharpley Universe arrives on Cucurbitacea Records on October 15, 2026, featuring three original productions by Nandz Jr alongside Joaquinn’s reinterpretation of the title track. With Derrota Mundial, we invite you to discover the opening chapter of a release that finds its strength in the relationship between detail, progression and movement.
