Some collaborations feel like a meeting between two established worlds; others sound like the moment those worlds start to blur. Happiness, Delays & Drum Machines, the new project by Golden Bug and Truus de Groot, belongs somewhere in between. Developed across Barcelona, Cadaqués, Paris, Eindhoven and San Diego, the record grew from a simple desire to make music together, allowing electronica, mutant pop, krautrock and experimental textures to meet through improvisation, machines and happy accidents. At the centre of it all is de Groot’s unmistakable voice, carrying decades of experience between punk, electronic experimentation and the avant-garde.
For Golden Bug, the collaboration adds another chapter to a career built around crossing boundaries. Based in Paris, Antoine Harispuru has spent more than fifteen years developing a distinctive language somewhere between electronica, disco dub and psychedelia, with releases and collaborations connected to labels such as La Belle Records, Les Disques de la Mort, Höga Nord, Gomma, Multi Culti and Kompakt. De Groot arrives from a very different point of departure.

Her musical path began in the Netherlands during the first wave of punk in 1976, eventually expanding into experimental electronics, self-designed instruments, photography, film and a life of collaborations that has taken her across genres, cultures and continents. That restless approach to making things is particularly important here: Happiness, Delays & Drum Machines is less about fitting two artists into a predefined format than giving them enough space to see what happens.
That spirit is all over the album’s title, and it also provides the right way into P.I.C, the track we are premiering today. Rather than treating the machines as a means to an end, the project embraces their imperfections, delays and unexpected turns as part of the conversation. P.I.C sits inside that larger dialogue, where voice, electronics and rhythm can feel slightly displaced from one another before finding their own strange equilibrium. It is playful without becoming lightweight, experimental without losing sight of movement—a small piece of a record that seems genuinely interested in what can happen when two very different musical histories are allowed to interfere with each other.
Behind the project is La Belle Records, the French label co-founded and managed by three friends, including Golden Bug, with a catalogue and attitude that have always left room for the unexpected. Happiness, Delays & Drum Machines arrives on October 16, 2026, with P.I.C as the fourth and final track of the release. For this CF Signals premiere, we invite you into one of the record’s most intriguing corners: a meeting of punk memory, electronic experimentation, machines and a little bit of beautiful accident.
