Our beloved Illegal Alien Records presents its new release. This is Barcelona DJ and producer Jen Cruz with her first EP, «Shifted Focus». Jen Cruz, a Catalan artist with a distinctive approach to techno, has been developing her sound through a versatile mix of influences inspired by Detroit, house, techno, and hardgroove, with house vibrations naturally interwoven into her productions. Since she established herself in Barcelona in 2019, she has continued to forge her own musical identity, combining timeless textures, powerful rhythms, and a strong sense of movement both in the booth and in the studio.
In recent years, Jen Cruz has experienced an impressive rise, steadily consolidating her presence in the international underground scene while remaining true to her own musical vision. Her music has already reached respected labels such as Hardgroove, by Ben Sims, and RAW / QTR, reflecting the growing attention her work attracts as both a DJ and a producer.
Jen Cruz brings a strong personality to everything she does, focused on defining her own essence and developing her career on her own terms. «Shifted Focus» marks her debut EP on Illegal Alien Records, following her contribution to our compilation «Between Lands & Oceans III VA», released last August. The EP features four tracks in total, with three original productions that explore different nuances of her sound, combining energetic grooves, dynamic rhythms, house vibes, and carefully crafted textures.
The release is completed by a remix from the powerful and legendary Mark Williams, who returns to Illegal Alien Records after appearing earlier this year in our «Deported Series: Thirteen» series. His interpretation brings his characteristic old-school groove to «Shifted Focus», adding another layer of character and movement to the release, with that timeless energy that only he knows how to transmit.
We are pleased to present the premiere of the track that closes this release, one that has simply left us amazed. This is Cruix, a track whose sound is on one hand quite emotional and raw, but on the other progressive and groovy. It is one of the faces of this release, one that feels both nostalgic and highly danceable to us. This duality makes it simply spectacular.
With «Shifted Focus», Jen Cruz takes another step in her rapidly developing career, joining the Illegal Alien Records family with a release that reflects her individuality, versatility, and passion for timeless techno.
