Underground Coordinates is the new compilation from RHOD Records, curated by Tonyy, which brings together eight emerging and consolidated voices from different parts of the United States. Instead of trying to define a single American techno sound, the release documents a network of artists connected through Tonyy‘s personal circle and his vision as curator. The connection between Tonyy and RHOD began through eaien, an artist who was already linked to the label.

Tonyy first entered the RHOD environment through that relationship, and his own music quickly fit within the label’s catalog. From there, the relationship evolved naturally into something broader: Tonyy became the person best positioned to select and connect a broader group of artists whose work he felt should be brought together. This is the essence of the project: Tonyy discovers and selects the artists; RHOD provides the platform and the European connection point. The result is not a label compilation assembled remotely, but a curated snapshot of a living network.

There is something deliberately old-school in the idea behind the release. In the 90s, underground music circulated through small networks of DJs, labels, record stores, parties, and personal recommendations. Geographically separate scenes could suddenly connect because one person believed in that music and decided to open a door. Underground Coordinates brings that spirit into the present: a connection from Torremolinos with artists working in different parts of the United States, built through people and not algorithms.

Local Analyst continues to expand the limits in Oregon with an incredibly singular, minimalist, and psychedelic approach to techno, ambient, and downtempo electronic music. With an emphasis on distinctive and sometimes anonymous music, his label Vertebrate seeks to go further, along with his dedication to wildlife conservation.

This artist presents Punished, a track whose sound is compact and light, with impressive sonic breadth. Enabled by a versatile and eclectic sonic structure, the sound becomes overwhelming at its climax and then modulates into very well-executed cinematic and atmospheric valleys. In the end, a mysterious and threatening form runs transversally, igniting the entire track and keeping us in constant expectation and anxiety.
