Tagmond is the artistic name of Michael Dieling, a German electronic music producer and live artist. Working with hardware, modular instruments and live performances, Tagmond develops musical ideas through experimentation rather than following a fixed formula. His work includes releases on SNOE and Traum Schallplatten, as well as a live modular performance and an interview that appeared in SNOE Affairs.
Broque, the German label based in Munich, is dedicated to presenting new danceable electronic sounds and experiments from the «Oder auf Brot» community. For one of its most recent releases, it presents Tagmond — also German — in what marks his debut on the label.
Phone Call is an EP of two original tracks plus a Radio Edit. “It has not yet been confirmed whether the moon is seen with particular frequency during the day in Salzatal, Saxony-Anhalt. What we do know by now, however, is that truly excellent club music is being produced there under the alias Tagmond, the German word that describes exactly this phenomenon.” That is how the artist is introduced in relation to his new release on Broque.
Transition as a state of listening is the concept that holds the EP together: a kind of limbo between day and night, between one track and the next. This two-tracker certainly sounds like someone who has done nothing but club music all his life. The percussive deep house of Baha makes its way across the dancefloor in a relaxed and somehow seductive way, yet very sure of itself, with a touch of filter effects and voices woven into the mix.
Like Tagmond himself, who marks a moment of transition, both tracks on the project are highly versatile and seem to be waiting for the right set to come alive. And they already leave you wanting more.
